Advent and Christmas at Faith

This year's Advent theme at Faith is Follow the Star. We invite you to join us for any or all of these special Advent and Christmas events at Faith!

Advent Devotionals

Members of the Faith family have written devotionals for the season of Advent, focusing the challenges and joys of following God in their own lives. You can view these daily devotionals on the Faith Facebook page here

Advent star words

Advent is the season in the church were we are waiting and preparing for the coming of Christ. In expectation of the birth of Christ and the hope of what is to come, we are asking the congregation to mark this time of preparation by reflecting on a "star" word. Like the wise men who followed a star to offer gifts to the newborn Christ, we will allow our star words to guide Advent so we too may bring a gift to Christ. During church on December 3, you will be given a star-shaped paper with a word printed on it. If you cannot be at church on the 3rd, feel free to swing by the church office or call to receive your star word. We ask that you reflect on that word during the season of Advent. Place it somewhere you will see it each day (on your dashboard, mirror, coffee pot, etc.). Take a picture of it and make it the background of your cell phone! As you ponder the word, allow it to develop meaning for you. What significance does this word have in your life? How might God be speaking to you through this word? Look up the definition and share it on social media or write it in a journal. As the days of Advent pass, you will be given other suggestions of how to reflect on your word as we Follow the Star together. Make sure to keep up with your word, as we will ask you to bring it back to worship in January!

Service of lessons & carols

Worship with the sounds of the season on Sunday, December 10, at 10:30 a.m. This service will feature musical offerings of the Chancel Choir, Faith Ringers, Fantastichoir, and Cherub Choir, as well as Old and New Testament readings with Advent hymns and songs that prepare us for the coming of Christ's birth and embrace the mystery of God in our lives. The Chancel Choir will offer many new musical selections this year. Our featured guest artists will include violinist Corinne Stillwell and the Tallahassee Brass Quintet. A special offering will be collected to support the music ministry at Faith. This offering will help defray the cost of great musicians for the Service of Lessons & Carols and the Christmas Eve services. Invite your friends and family to this special service!

taize: a service of light in the darkness

Please join us for our Taize Prayer Service on Friday, December 15, 6 p.m., in the Sanctuary, as we worship Jesus Christ and remember those saints who have passed away. December is the darkest month of the year, and for many it can be a sad time because they have lost loved ones and they are carrying difficult burdens. Through music, prayers and silence we will worship together with hope. During the service you will have an opportunity to light a candle as a reminder that the light of Jesus Christ will never be overcome. All are welcome!

A Christmas Carol

Don't miss this special musical presentation at Faith on December 15, 16, and 17 at 7 p.m. For more information and to get tickets, please click here

Christmas Eve Breakfast

In place of Sunday School on December 24, there will be a churchwide fellowship at 9:30 a.m. with coffee, pastries, and fruit, in Fellowship Hall. During this time of fellowship, we will create gifts for our neighbors at Lake Ella who are experiencing homelessness. We will also hear the story of St. Nicholas as inspiration for caring for the needs of others during this season. We hope you will join us in the midst of the hustle and bustle of this season to give back and connect with your church family.

Christmas Eve Worship

Invite your family and friends to one of these special Christmas Eve worship services on Sunday, December 24:

10:30 a. Family Service. Geared toward children, families, and all who enjoy seeing children live out the nativity story. Children participate in the living nativity through costumes, singing, and story telling. Costumes are provided; there are no rehearsals. Rev. Trinity Whitley will share a meditation.

7:00 p.m. Traditional Candlelight Communion Service. This traditional service will include brass and choir music, holy communion, and candlelighting. Rev. Brad Clayton will share a meditation.

Christmas poinsettias may be picked up after the 7 p.m. service. We invite you to bring an offering of diapers to help support the Pregnancy Help & Information Center. Diapers may be dropped off at either Christmas Eve Service, or worship on December 25 or January 1.
